Everything gets done in our own shop here on Highway 80. Routine oil and filter work, belts and clutch overhauls, front and rear diff fluid, brakes and bearings, suspension and tires, chasing down electrical faults, and warranty repairs.

Hendry County is hard on two things in particular. Water and belts. Machines that cross ditches, work flooded pasture in the wet season or run cane and vegetable ground where irrigation is constant will pick up water in the differentials and grit in the clutch housing long before the manual says to look. Pull the CVT drain plug after a deep crossing rather than hoping, and get the diff fluid checked more often than the book minimum.

The other one is lugging. Crawling through soft ground in high range instead of low is the single most common way owners here destroy a belt early. Use low range and the belt will last dramatically longer.

If your machine works for a living, keep a spare belt and the tools with it. A belt in the bed is a twenty minute fix on the property. A belt back at the barn is a recovery job.

Getting the credit application in online ahead of your visit means the desk work is largely done before you arrive. Buy for the wet season, not the dry one

People shop in winter when the ground is firm and buy accordingly. Then July arrives. Ground clearance, tire choice and whether you have low range you actually use are what decide whether the machine keeps working through the wet months. Measure gates, trailers and row spacing first

Width is the constraint nobody checks until it is a problem. Measure your gates, your trailer deck and the spacing on any planted ground before you settle on a model. A wider machine is more stable and more capable and it is also the reason some owners end up modifying fence line.

Plan the roof and windshield into the purchase

A roof is not an accessory in this part of Florida, it is the reason the machine gets used in August. Add a windshield if you run dusty tracks or cane roads. These cost less rolled into the deal than fitted eighteen months later, and the installation is cleaner when we do it before delivery.

Youth machines and Florida rules

Polaris youth models have genuine safety systems built in, including speed limiting that the adult sets rather than the rider. Florida places restrictions on where and how minors may operate off-highway vehicles and on protective gear. Ask us, and confirm the current state requirements before the first ride rather than after.

Shopping a used Polaris®

Hours tell you more than mileage on a machine that spends its life at low speed. Get the belt history and ask whether anyone has been inside the clutch. Then get underneath it: bent A-arms, a scarred skid plate and rust starting at the frame welds all say something about the life it has had. Rock each wheel to feel for slack in the bearings and joints. Anything we take in trade goes through an inspection before it hits the floor, and you will get told what that inspection turned up.
